2015 Summer Newsletter – Softening the Blow of Homelessness on Kids
Homelessness is difficult for anyone forced to endure it, but it’s especially hard on kids.
Homeless children are twice as likely to repeat a grade in school than non-homeless children, and they have twice the rate of learning disabilities and three times the rate of emotional and behavioral problems?
At O.U.R. Mission Home, we do our best to mitigate those effects by providing a warm, home-like
atmosphere. Siblings Gabriella, Zarah, and Samuel are doing especially well emotionally and
academically.
But we need to do more, and that’s why we are updating our Family Life Center to create a space for
youth to explore their true passions in a loving and nurturing environment.
Over a third of our residents are under the age of 18, and your gift will have a lasting impact on their lives. I hope you take advantage of this opportunity by giving today.
