Hello friend!

My name is Lesley and I was a guest at O.U.R. Family Home for about a year and four months. I never would have imagined I would end up living at a Mission but it’s one of the best experiences I ever had.

You’d think a homeless shelter would be a cold, dark place with maybe a spot for a sleeping bag, but the Mission was nothing like that. It truly was a home – a place where I could get rest, refocus and get myself together.

During my time here I got a good job with Goodwill Industries. I saved my money and was able to get a nice apartment and today I am completely self-sufficient.

I don’t have any regrets about what brought me to the Mission. Often times we tend to judge, and just because someone may be “homeless” doesn’t mean they are an alcoholic or a drug addict, or that they did something bad. Life happens. The blessing was I had somewhere to go.
