2016 Spring Newsletter – President’s Corner: United for a Better Parramore
Have you ever met the men who live at our Men’s Center? For many
people, the answer is probably “no.” When our plans to build a new
Men’s Center was met with opposition from the surrounding community, we recognized we needed to educate our neighbors about our men and our programs.
So we introduced the local residents to our men through a series of community meetings. The results have been inspiring and rewarding as people came to realize that the men who live at the Mission are good neighbors, striving to reclaim their lives while helping to make Parramore a safe, clean, and attractive community. Now, many who objected to our efforts to build a new Men’s Center support us.
On January 1, we hosted a neighborhood workday. Nearly 65 volunteers, including 22 members of our Men’s Discipleship Program, cleaned up six blocks of Parramore. The event was spectacularly successful in its goal to unite the Mission and its men with their surrounding community for a cleaner, safer Parramore.
Please come visit the Mission. We would love to give you a tour and show you how your ministry here is revealing the love of God, building His Kingdom, changing lives, and making our community a
better place to live. Our success would not be possible without the faithful support of all our donors, volunteers, and prayer warriors. Thank you!
