1. What is the Purpose of Conversations on a Bench?

Homelessness has exploded in Central Florida over the past several years despite the growth of programs to address the issue. Conversations on a Bench will examine the issue and provide information, opinions, and recommendations from a broad range of perspectives. We also will highlight the Mission’s programs, designed to provide long-term life transformation through functional assistance and Christ-centered care.

2. What are the plans of the Orlando Union Rescue Mission?

The Orlando Union Rescue Mission is hosting Conversations on a Bench, a 24-hour livestream on social media, on October 9 and 10, 2025. CEO Freddy Clayton will interview for 24 consecutive hours a series of public officials, social service providers, pastors, and homeless neighbors. They will discuss homelessness, its causes and consequences, and its potential solutions.

3. What are the official dates and times of the event?

The event kicks off at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, and continues for 24 hours, concluding at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, in observance of World Homeless Day.

4. Where will conversations take place?

Conversations will take place at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission’s Men’s Home, known as Project Hope, located at 3300 W. Colonial Drive Orlando, FL 32808. This location serves as a central hub for the Mission’s outreach to men experiencing homelessness and is a fitting setting for open, heartfelt conversations about the challenges and solutions surrounding homelessness in Orlando. Feel free to stop by Project Hope anytime to watch or take part in the live discussions.

5. What platforms can the event be watched on?

The event will be livestreamed on Facebook Live, Instagram Live, and YouTube.
