Christmas is an especially inspiring time at O.U.R. Mission Family Home!
Because of the generosity of friend like you, the families we serve will enjoy the holidays in ways most could not have imagined before coming here. Many faced desperate situations – they lacked a safe, stable place to live and often confronted the likelihood of hunger.
Today, we see them happy, grateful, and progressing towards a transformation of their lives.
Not only at Christmas but throughout the entire year, we place a special emphasis on our youngest guests. We currently have 65 children ages 17 and under at the Family Home. Let me introduce you to a few who are excelling in our programs:
- Alison, the 4-year-old pictured on the cover of this newsletter, is one of 20 guests who attend our pre-school, where the children have age-appropriate curriculum and are introduced to Jesus in a living atmosphere;
- Taylor, a third-grader, recently completed our NOVA memory-retention and reading comprehension course. Her mom credits the course with significant improvement in her grades, her conduct, and her ability to focus; and
- Gabriella, a high-school junior, is president of her class and is able to juggle five AP courses and participation on the track team by using the tutoring and quiet study programs at the Mission.
We thank God for the blessing of these three and all the children at the Mission. They enrich our lives and remind us how important our ministries are as we strive to break the patterns of poverty and homelessness that beset so many families.
Our success in breaking those patterns results directly from the sacrificial generosity of our volunteers and donors. When you give for our kids, you are transforming their lives. You are providing the hands and feet of Christ, which will ensure those children and their parents will receive the education training, and guidance that will enable them to be independent and self-sufficient for the rest of their lives.
