Donor Services Specialist

Division: Bargain Store

Reports To: Store Director              

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Accepts all private and gift-in-kind donations.  Keeps warehouse, freezer and cooler neat and orderly.  Also, receives donations, processes received goods and bales clothes and cardboard by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Accept donations, assist donors and issue donor receipts.
  2. Bale cardboard for selling to recyclers.
  3. Bale clothing and assist in the sale thereof.
  4. Process received goods.
  5. Collect and sort scrap metal to be sold.
  6. Operate forklift and baler.
  7. Load and unload furniture deliveries on truck as needed.
  8. Maintain the entire back lot.
  9. Drive a truck as needed.
  10. Assist in handling disorderly customers as necessary.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned by Store Director.

Job Title: Secondary Cashier

Division: Bargain Store

Reports To: Store Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Act as secondary cashier ensuring there are never more than two customers in line or helping when the current customer has a large order.
  2. Welcome all customers entering the store and help check in bags when required.
  3. Ensure, provide and promote excellent customer service.
  4. Monitor the sales floor ensuring it is kept clean, tidy and organized as well as your work area.
  5. Make sure bags and supplies for your area are adequately stocked.
  6. Assist with jewelry display and dressing rooms.
  7. Assist with customer inquiries directing as needed to Store Director.
  8. Report suspicious customer behavior or problems to the Store Director.
  9. Balance cash drawer at close of day.

Job Title:Early Learning Center Child Advocate

Division: Family Life Center

Department: Early Learning Center (ELC)

Reports To:  ELC Child Advocacy Coordinator/FLC Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: The Early Learning Center (ELC) Child Advocates are responsible foreffectively implementing job tasks within the Early Learning Center. Team members are responsible for maintaining a Christ-centered and teamfocused work environment.  This position may require flexibility with regard to schedule changes in order to ensure that the ELC is functioning up to this area’s prescribed standards.

Duties: Child Advocates will:

  1. Ensure they are attentive to a child’s physical and emotional needs (i.e., feeding, nose wiping, general hygiene, diaper/clothing changes, encouraging, smiling, play, calming, rocking, etc.) in a nurturing and safe environment.
  2. Implement the ELC schedule and curriculum as outlined.
  3. Demonstrate open communication and transparency between staff, child and parents.  
  4. Ensure a child’s negative behavioral issues are immediately addressed (as dictated by policy) with appropriate redirection, follow up documentation if needed forwarded to appropriate parties.
  5. Provide monthly written assessments of each child’s progress to the ELC Coordinator and parents and/or staff when necessary.
  6. Ensure that cleanliness and maintenance of the facility is maintained in accordance with the standards of the Orlando Union Rescue Mission.
  7. Apply biblical instruction and counseling whenever possible.
  8. Love on every child under their supervision.
  9. Other duties as directed.  

Requirements:

  1. Must possess at least a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) with at least two years practical experience in child care field. 
  2. Must have a current childcare certification and First Aid/CPR certification or be willing upon hire, to attend classes and receive certification from the 4C, Dept. of Children & Family Services.
  3. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  4. Must have the ability to write routine reports, lesson plans, documentation and correspondence.
  5. Must have the ability to demonstrate patience.
  6. Must have the ability to demonstrate compassionate parental role-modeling.

Job Title: Academic Support Counselor

Division: Family Life Center

Department: Youth Learning Center

Reports To: Family Life Center Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
Organizing, supervising, and implementing academic support program for school-age children who are struggling significantly in academics.

Duties:

  1. Assess the academic status and grade-level performance of each school­ age student upon entry into the Mission.
  2. Initiate and maintain contact with appropriate teachers and school counselors for each individual student.
    Working with appropriate teachers and school counselors, establish a plan for academic support, including homework assistance and tutoring, for each individual student who is significantly behind or failing academically.
  3. Recruit and maintain, in conjunction with the Mission’s Volunteer Services Coordinator, tutors and homework-assistance volunteers, to work with students who are significantly behind or failing academically.
  4. Prepare and implement a schedule of volunteers to work with students who are significantly behind or failing academically.
  5. Monitor the school work and academic performance of all students who are significantly behind or failing academically.
  6. In conjunction with the applicable Biblical Case Manager, notify the students’ parents of the status and progress of the students and describe the program for improving the students’ academic performance.
  7. Monitor and maintain records of the academic performance of students who are significantly behind or failing academically.
  8. Maintain and publish to the Director of the Family Life Center records of the academic performance and progress of all students who are significantly behind or failing academically.
  9. Attend appropriate meetings and in-service training sessions as requested.

  • A bachelor’s or graduate degree in education or other relevant discipline from a regionally accredited college or university.
