- The Ekhator family came here from Nigeria after Mary’s husband was billed in an accident. Mary promptly got a job in a dentist’s office and began saving her money. Meanwhile, all three children excelled in school, becoming honor students. Gabrielle was even elected sophomore class president at Jones High School! The family now has their own apartment in East Orlando.
- Scott and Elisa Johnson successfully completed the program in February and moved with their three children into their own apartment. During their time here, Scott got a full-time job in the restaurant industry while Elisa earned her childcare certification, got her driver’s license, became a U.S. citizen and was hired at Florida Hospital.
- Teddy earned his high school diploma, attended culinary school and got a job in the kitchen at the Grand Bohemian Hotel. In January, he received the “Golden Pineapple” award as a front-line lodging employee who best symbolizes quality service in Central Florida. A few weeks later, he completed the Men’s Home discipleship program and moved into his own apartment in Kissimmee.
- Khallid was born a Muslim in Egypt but accepted Christ and was baptized shortly after coming to O.U.R. Men’s Home. Today he is a math teacher in the Mission’s Career Learning Center and has helped dozens of our guests earn their high school diplomas. He recently became a U.S. citizen, and during the process legally changed his name to “Eternal Victory.”
